Stream Restoration at Brandy Springs Park: Community Workshop
The dam at Brandy Springs Park has reached the end of its life. It has already been breached, the embankments are eroding, and restoring it would cost $300,000–$500,000 plus ongoing upkeep—an expense that simply isn’t realistic.
More importantly, the dam cannot stay. Pennsylvania’s Dam Safety division is aware of the breach, and removal is the only reason the park is not facing fines or enforcement action. In its current state, the structure is a liability and a safety concern.
That means the pond cannot return—but this also opens the door to create something new, safer, and more beneficial for both people and wildlife.
Across our region, communities who have removed failing dams have seen:
Improved safety and reduced liability
